Tree View Control Added To Matrix Gemini LIMS
31st May 2018
The Matrix Gemini LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) from Autoscribe Informatics now features ‘Tree View Control’. Tree View, and a number of performance and security enhancements, are part of software release v5.4.5. This is now available to all current Matrix Gemini v5 users and, of course, will be supplied to all new customers. The new functionality allows the display of hierarchical data from the LIMS linked in an easy to navigate parent/child tree structure.
The display and behavior of each level in the hierarchy can be specified and fully configured using the Matrix Gemini configuration tools. When items within the tree are selected other controls such as lists will be updated to respond to the selection. Tree structures can be configured with a search facility which provides the flexibility to easily locate unique items within the tree as well as items (such as types of test) that might appear in multiple locations within the tree.
Tree structures are useful in many applications. For example, all the different levels and actions within an SOP (standard operating procedure) can be readily displayed and accessed. Rigorous conformance to SOPs for every analysis is an essential requirement in highly regulated industries and QA/QC laboratories. The tree also helps with traceability. All activities relating to samples, tests, resources etc. within an SOP are automatically flagged by Matrix Gemini with a revision number, time, date and user ID so the execution of every step within a standard operating procedure can be traced back up the tree.
Another useful application is location identification, for example in biobanks. Here there may be a number of rooms containing freezers and refrigerators. These are then further organized according to shelf number, container type and container position. Tree view provides easy navigation to see the location of specific samples.
